Since its establishment in 1999, Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Association has facilitated in arranging visits to China, Jiangsu Province and Nanjing by Ontario provincial government delegations, businesses and industrial enterprises and vice versa. It has facilitated economic and technical co-operations between Chinese and Canadian enterprises. Other achievements of Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Association include organizing trade and investment fairs in Ontario on behalf of Jiangsu provincial government and businesses.
In recent years, with the increase in business, trade and cooperation between Ontario and Jiangsu Province, Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Association has held a series of talks for Ontario businesses and enterprises on business prospects and opportunities between Canada and China; on project management as well as on taking advantage of government resources in combination with their own strengths to expand business with China. Most of the guest speakers are officials from Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Association has attracted professionals from all trades and disciplines: business & trade, science & engineering, education, law, publishing, media, IT, immigration, advertising, public relations and so on. They not only provide marketing plans, law and immigration consultation services for businesses but also contribute to opening up and expanding markets in both countries through media such as newspapers, TV advertisements and websites. With the purpose of bridging the information gap between Chinese and Canadian businesses, Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Association publishes, on a periodic basis, journals on business and trade in both English and Chinese. It also publishes books, videos and DVDs on education, culture, business & trade, history of immigration and tourism of both countries.
Every year Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Association organizes all kinds of recreational activities, for example, Chinese New Year (Chun Jie) Gala, where old friendship is renewed and new relationships are fostered. OJFA is also a member of the Confederation of Toronto Chinese Canadian Organizations. In joint efforts with other Chinese community organizations, it strives for the interests and an improved social status for all Chinese Canadians.
